Hillingdon 10k and Half Marathon

On Sunday 24th February 40 people will be running in the Hillingdon 10k and half marathon raising money for our charity. We can’t thank them enough.

Many have a personal reason why they are running for the hospitals; others are dedicated staff members doing their best to raise money to benefit their patients.

All of them deserve your support. Please come along to cheer them on. The race starts at Brunel University at the sports hall. Please support them and raise money for patients at the Hillingdon hospitals by donating at https://www.justgiving.com/campaign/hillingdonhalfmarathon

What have we been up to?

Hillingdon Hospital Charity was very busy in November/December getting ready for Christmas and for our biggest event of the year.

Some of things that have been going on include fantastic donations of toys and games to our Paediatric unit from Hasbro, Jato and Access Self Storage so thank you for all of those; Jato also made a sizeable donation for which we are really grateful. In addition we have been successful in obtaining funding from both the Amazon Foundation and the United Grand Lodge – we can now proceed with fitting the new kitchen in maternity that was donated by the Uxbridge Kitchen Company. We have also received great support recently from local branches of ASDA, Sainsbury’s and Waitrose. The Charity were also very happy to fund the Hospital’s Christmas Trees, staff Christmas breakfast and chocolates.

Looking forward, we are the Charity partner for the Hillingdon Half Marathon and 10k runs on 24th February. We have sponsored runners from both the local community and within the Hospital, including our new CEO Sarah Tedford and the Charity will be out in force on the day providing drinks, snacks and support. This is our biggest event of the year and we hope to double the amount of money we made last year.

In other news…Trish Mule has joined us as volunteer fundraiser, if you have any fundraising ideas she can be contacted on trish.mule@nhs.net; also look out later in the spring for our sponsored stair climb and see which department or ward can climb the Hospital tower the most times.
