Neonatal Unit Refurbishment

Every year, hundreds of families rely on the Neonatal Unit at The Hillingdon Hospital during some of the most anxious and emotional moments of their lives.

While the quality of clinical care has always been exceptional, families told us that the environment itself no longer reflected the standard of care being delivered. The unit's facilities had become tired and outdated, and parents often lacked comfortable spaces where they could rest, spend time with their baby or take a break from the intensity of the neonatal environment.

Listening to the experiences of parents and carers, The Hillingdon Hospitals Charity launched a major refurbishment project to enhance the Neonatal Unit and improve support for families.

The project focused on creating a more welcoming environment with improved family facilities, including dedicated spaces where parents could stay close to their baby, receive support and prepare for life after discharge.

For families with babies requiring specialist care, every additional moment together is precious. The refurbishment has helped create a more comfortable, supportive and family-centred environment, ensuring parents feel valued and cared for throughout their neonatal journey.

This project reflects the Charity's commitment to funding initiatives that improve not only clinical environments but also the overall experience of patients and their loved ones.
